Yan Chmarau
Yan Chmarau (b. in Mahiljou, Belarus)
Working
across digital and analogue media, his work explores the circulation of found
material - browsing, collecting, and archiving fragments from abandoned social
media profiles, online marketplaces, alongside transient objects of everyday
life. Drawing from the Post‑Soviet digital lore, his work reframes how
intimate, mundane and contradictory fragments of life circulate, decay, and
resurface. Between concept and ‘vibe’, his practice unfolds within a state of
digital decadence: a system of projections and chance relations where digital
waste becomes both material and a form of knowing.
