Jian Langjie

Born 1989 in Changsha, China, studied in the department of sculpture and spacial strategy at the Weißensee school of art. During his studies, he always worked as a portrait drawer to make a living, til 2025, he has served about 600 clients all over Germany. His practice is socially oriented and focuses on how individuals produce value within highly interwoven cultural contexts. This leads him to explore memory, intersubjectivity, and forms of absence embedded in everyday life. These explorations further concern the ethics of action and the generation of affective spaces. instinct meets irony. By pairing tactile, handcrafted forms with visual references drawn from the internet, nature, and ephemeral trends, they create objects that feel both strangely familiar and slightly off-kilter.
